Flight Review: JAL J class (domestic Business class) B737-800
This flight review is about the short haul flight with JAL between Okinawa and Fukuoka in domestic Business class, also called J class.
Boarding and Check in
Check-in was conveniently available at a dedicated counter at the airport. .While fast track wasn’t offered at Okinawa, the security clearance process was a breeze.
Boarding followed the standard group process, with J class passengers enjoying priority entry in the second group.
Note: JAL’s J class does not include lounge access.

Seats
The seats were similar to first-class seats on domestic North American flights, but they looked a bit worn.
Legroom was generous, complemented by a comfortable footrest, though the reclining function was somewhat limited.
A compact table was provided, which might feel a bit small for working on a laptop. .Additionally, you could listen to some radio channels by plugging in your headphones at your seat or watch short videos on the foldable screens available throughout the cabin.
Food & Drinks
The food and drink service is very limited, with only one drink (water, soft drinks or tea) offered shortly after departure.
Service & Amenities
A great feature was that free Wi-Fi was available to all passengers, ensuring no boredom on this short flight.
Furthermore, USB charging ports are also available at every seat.
The lavatories on board are what you would expect from that kind of aircraft.

Bottom Line
J class offers noticeably more legroom and a superior seat compared to Economy, though the perks are limited beyond that. .Given that J class fares are often only slightly higher than standard Economy, upgrading to JAL’s J class for travel within Japan remains a worthwhile option to consider.
