Air Dolomiti Business Class Embraer E195 Review (Luxembourg to Frankfurt)
Can the same airline offer both one of the worst and one of the better short-haul Business Class experiences in Europe? After flying Air Dolomiti Business Class multiple times between Luxembourg and Frankfurt, the answer is surprisingly yes.
Air Dolomiti operates selected Lufthansa flights on behalf of Lufthansa using Embraer E195 aircraft. While the onboard product itself remains largely identical between flights, our experiences varied dramatically depending on the crew and service quality.
In this Air Dolomiti Business Class review, we combine two separate flights to show how inconsistent the experience can be. We cover boarding, seating comfort, food, drinks, service, lounge access, and overall value for money on the Embraer E195.

A highly inconsistent short-haul Business Class experience where the crew can completely change the quality of the flight.
Airport Experience and Lounge Access
At Luxembourg Airport, Business Class passengers can use the dedicated Lufthansa Group check-in counters.
On older flights, Fast Track security access unfortunately did not work correctly for Air Dolomiti passengers, despite being advertised at the airport. The gates only recognized Luxair boarding passes, creating unnecessary confusion for Lufthansa Group premium passengers.
Fortunately, on our more recent Air Dolomiti flight, Fast Track access finally worked properly.
Business Class passengers receive access to the Luxair VIP Lounge, which remains the main premium lounge at Luxembourg Airport.
Boarding Experience
Boarding procedures improved significantly between our two flights.
During our earlier Air Dolomiti Business Class experience, boarding at Luxembourg Airport was chaotic, with unclear announcements and no separate priority lane for premium passengers.
On the newer flight, boarding groups were finally enforced properly by the ground staff, creating a much more organized process.
The aircraft was parked at Luxembourg Airport’s B gates, allowing passengers to walk directly to the aircraft instead of using buses.

Air Dolomiti Embraer E195 Business Class Seats
The Air Dolomiti Embraer E195 features a standard European Business Class layout with a 2-2 seating configuration and a blocked adjacent seat.
Unfortunately, the implementation of the blocked middle seat feels rather awkward. A fixed center table is installed between seats, but its placement limits flexibility and makes it difficult to choose between the aisle or window side.
On our older flight, the seats felt heavily worn, dirty, and outdated — honestly among the worst seats we have encountered in European Business Class.
Fortunately, the newer flight felt noticeably better maintained, although the seats themselves remain average compared to competitors.
Legroom is acceptable for such a short flight, although the cabin certainly does not feel particularly spacious. One positive aspect is the presence of individual air nozzles at each seat, something that has sadly disappeared on many modern aircraft.
Wi-Fi is technically available onboard, although functionality remains limited mostly to streaming newspapers and small media content to your own device.

Food and Drinks
The onboard catering varied enormously between our two Air Dolomiti Business Class flights.
On our earlier flight, service was extremely basic. A small bottle of water was already waiting at the seat before departure, but instead of a proper drinks round, passengers were simply asked “Coffee?” after takeoff.
The meal itself consisted of a cold quiche served on a tray with butter, but no bread. The overall presentation and taste felt disappointing and poorly thought out.

Fortunately, the more recent Air Dolomiti Business Class experience was significantly better.
Despite the flight lasting barely 30 minutes, the crew delivered a proper drinks service, and the food quality was genuinely good for such a short intra-European route.
The meal consisted of salmon with condiments, cookies, water, and at least one proper drinks round. Most importantly, the crew proactively offered additional beverages during the flight.
Service: Completely Dependent on the Crew
The biggest issue with Air Dolomiti Business Class is consistency.
On our earlier flight, the crew member responsible for Business Class appeared visibly annoyed throughout the journey. Basic hospitality phrases such as “hello,” “please,” and “thank you” were almost entirely absent.
The service felt rushed, cold, and frankly unprofessional. At one point, the crew member even spent part of the short flight sleeping instead of monitoring the cabin.
In contrast, the service on our more recent Air Dolomiti Business Class flight was genuinely pleasant.
The crew remained attentive throughout the flight and proactively asked passengers if they wanted additional drinks, despite the flight lasting barely half an hour.
This dramatic difference between two flights on the same route perfectly demonstrates how much your Air Dolomiti experience depends on the individual crew onboard.
Arrival in Frankfurt
One downside of the Frankfurt arrival experience is that Air Dolomiti aircraft are often parked at remote stands, requiring a bus transfer to the main terminal.
On our most recent flight, the bus transfer from the aircraft to the terminal took approximately 15 minutes.

Is Air Dolomiti Business Class Worth It?
Air Dolomiti Business Class on the Embraer E195 is a difficult product to judge because the overall experience varies enormously depending on the crew.
The hard product itself remains fairly average, with aging seats, limited storage, and standard European Business Class seating.
However, when the crew is motivated and the catering is done properly, the flight can actually become a surprisingly pleasant short-haul Business Class experience.
If you can secure a good fare or an inexpensive upgrade, Air Dolomiti Business Class may still be worth considering on short European routes. However, passengers expecting a consistently premium Lufthansa Group experience may sometimes leave disappointed.
Final Verdict: Inconsistent but occasionally surprisingly good.
