Hotel Review: The Westin Grand Munich
The Westin Grand Munich, review of a Westin Executive Twin Room in autumn 2020 post Covid-19.
Location
The Westin Grand Munich is located 10 minutes east of the city center by tube, in a business district near a tube station and a small park.
Not too many shops, restaurants or bars are located here. It is literally adjacent to a heavy traffic street.

Room
Our room was on the last, 22nd floor, and due to this fact we had a spectacular view overhead the whole city of Munich.

The room was spacious, offered all the usual amenities plus a coffee machine, two sinks, a separate shower and a separate bathtub.
Everything was very clean, however one problem was that the windows were not soundproof. Despite being on the 22nd floor, you have a quiet but constant background noise of the street during the night. Definitely not ideal as also sirens could be heard from time to time.
The bathroom in the Westin Grand Munich was great and the two separate sinks made it perfect for such a hotel.
Food & Drinks
During the Covid pandemic, the hotel featured a restaurant where only breakfast was served and a beer-garden for lunch, dinner and drinks.
Breakfast was excellent. To prevail social distancing, everyone receives a small plate with spreads, ham, cheese and different kind of bread.
Furthermore, you had the choice of several fresh made dishes served to your table like “Weisswurst”. For hotels that are not offering a breakfast buffet anymore this is an excellent replacement.
Food in the beer-garden was solid, and if the weather is good this is a really nice spot to have some beers.
As the executive lounge in the Westin Grand Munich was closed due to Covid-19, elite members received a 10€ credit per day per person for the refill station, as well as 20% off on everything in the beer-garden.

Other services
The spa area is really nice. You can find a solid gym, a sauna, treatment rooms, a solarium and a nice outdoor relaxing area. Their true gem here is the beautiful indoor pool. The whole are feels really relaxing, which might also have been due to the fact that not many people are around those days.
Staff
Staff at the Westin Grand Munich was very friendly. From check in, over lunch, breakfast and spa, all the staff was friendly and professional.
Furthermore, we received a special gift in the evening that was waiting in our room. An ice bucket with some tonic, water, nuts and sweets, which was a pleasant surprise, only some gin would have made it perfect 😉 .

Bottom Line
If you do not need a centrally located hotel, and can spare 10 minutes to join the city center or happen to have some business meetings in the area, this hotel could be a very good alternative for you. Friendly staff, nice rooms and solid food are the good sides here.
However, if you are a light sleeper, the heavy street in front of the hotel might become a problem.
