Hotel Review: Pine Cliffs Resort, Pine Cliffs Residence Algarve
Review Pine Cliffs Resort of a two bedroom residence with Garden access in autumn 2020. The hotel is affiliated to Marriott.
Location
The Pine Cliffs Resort is located on the coastline of the Algarve, a couple of kilometers away from the village Villamoura. The resort can be reached in 30 minutes by car from Faro airport.
The resort offers a couple of different accommodation types: Hotel rooms, suites as well as residences. We were located in the residence part of the resort, a bit further away from the reception area.

Rooms
Our two bedroom residence with garden access in the Pine Cliffs Resort was very spacious.
You enter the apartment by the large living room featuring a large dining table, a TV, a sofa table, some sofas and a fully equipped kitchen which literally leaves no room for improvement. Behind the kitchen, a small storage room is located with a tumble dryer and a washing machine.
One of the bedroom has two single beds and a bathroom with a bathtub, a separate toilet is located opposite the hall of the first bedroom.
The master-bedroom has a king-size bed as well as direct access to the master bathroom including a walk-in shower, a bathtub and a separate toilet divided by an additional door.
In each room there’s a TV and trough each room you have access to a private terrace with access to the garden, so you have a huge area basically all to yourself outside. An ideal playground for kids.

Food & Drinks
Due to the corona pandemic, only 4 bars/restaurants out of the 11 available were open.
Breakfast was served in their main restaurant in the main building. It was in a buffet style, however you were served at the buffet due to the Corona pandemic. The selection was great as you had the choice between countless types of bread, cold spreads like ham, salmon, cheeses and so on. Many warm dishes were available so that everybody certainly finds something convenient to eat. Of course and egg and a pancake station was available too.
You were able to visit the restaurants, but the resort made a website available where you could order room service online in the open restaurants, again due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was a very convenient way and was working just fine for us.
All the food we had was delicious and of a very good quality, just have a look at the pictures.

Other services
The Pine Cliffs Resort offers many different services. Usually they have 2 fitness centers available, but due to the pandemic only the one near the reception was open. Furthermore, you have a heated indoor pool an as many as 7 outdoor pools available across the whole resort, always equipped with an adult and a children’s pool.
Numerous tennis courts are available as well as a whole golf course partly embedded in the center of the resort. Even a soccer field can be found at the far end of the Pine Cliffs Resort.
They also offer many kids’ activities, from min golf to a huge playground in the shape of a pirate ship. Unfortunately the whole kids’ area was closed due to the pandemic as well.
Bikes can be rented directly at the resort itself. Usually a shuttle as a small train connects each part of the resort, if you do not like to walk, ways can be very far at the Pine Cliffs Resort. However, due to the pandemic this train was not in service but you could ask for a golf cart to pick you up.
The spa area is very nice as well and tons of treatments are offered. However, these were definitely too expensive.
The resort is located at the beach, but due to the fact that the Pine Cliffs Resort is build on the cliffs of the coast, the way to the beach is a long walk with many stairs. This might be a problem for some guests, however the walk itself through the cliffs is very nice.

Staff
All the staff at the resort was very helpful and very friendly, always with a smile on their face despite the current difficult situation.
The resort teamed up with an animal retreat and allows a small population of sterilized cats to live in the resort. They are very well cared off and very friendly, you can pet literally each one of them.

Bottom Line
While the resort is not located centrally near a big village, the resort itself is extremely huge, and you could easily spend a whole week here without leaving the resort, giving the numerous restaurants and leisure activities they provide.
The only downside is the long walk to access the beach.
