Review: DoubleTree by Hilton Luxembourg
Review of the DoubleTree by Hilton in Luxembourg. Our stay was in Summer 2018, we booked a standard room and received an upgrade to a King Junior Suite. We were entitled to a free mini bar and complimentary breakfast, due to our Gold status.
Location
The hotel is located in the Dommaldange district of Luxembourg
This district is not really centrally located and it is not possible to visit Luxembourg City by foot from here. However a bus stop is located very close to the entrance of the hotel and the bus will take you in around 15 minutes to the city centre. From the airport however we advise using a taxi because you have to make quite a big detour to arrive at the hotel by public transportation.
Rooms
The hotel itself looks a little bit dated from the outside, but our suite has clearly been renovated recently and the interior was nice and modern with some nice decor touches. The suite had an entrance hall, a very spacious room with a huge living area and a double bed and a modern, spacious bathroom. Everything in the room was perfect for our stay, as we had enough space, nice decor and some space to relax. The suite was overlooking a big forest so we had a very nice view. There was also a balcony but unfortunately all balconys seems to be closed
Food & Drinks
The complimentary mini bar was packed with water, soft drinks and juice. Breakfast was nothing special but standard for a DoubleTree with the normal selection like scrambled eggs, sausages, corn flakes, spreads etc. They also have a small bar area as you can see in the picture below.
However we had an issue late in the night. We ordered something from the night menu, just to get a call back 2 minutes later that they have absolutely nothing left anymore to serve. I was wondering how it than is possible to make breakfast in the morning. Nevertheless we contacted Hilton Customer Service and got compensated adequately.
Staff
Staff at the reception and during breakfast was very friendly, however how they dealt with the night menu situation was not ideal.
Other Services
WiFi is of course available free of charge. The fitness centre is definitely to small for a hotel of this size. On the plus side, they have a very nice indoor swimming pool which compensates a little bit for the small fitness area.
Conclusion
All in all this is a solid hotel. Rooms are spacious and modern and staff was very friendly in general. Aside from the situation with the night menu, we encountered no issues during our stay. The location is somewhat not ideal but this is not a problem as a bus station is located adjacent to the hotel. We can recommend the DoubleTree by Hilton Luxembourg.
