Flight Review: Helvetic Airways Business Class from Luxembourg to Zurich

In December 2021, I flew in Business Class with Helvetic Airways from Luxembourg (LUX) to Zurich (ZRH). The flight was booked through SWISS, but operated by Helvetic Airways using their modern Embraer E190-E2 jet.

At the Airport

Check-in was handled at the SWISS Business Class counter, and the process couldn’t have been smoother. Boarding was also efficient, Business Class passengers and status holders boarded first.

However, when flying with the Lufthansa Group out of Luxembourg, there’s no lounge access or fast-track lane, which is a bit disappointing for premium passengers.

Onboard & Seating

Helvetic’s Business Class cabin is set up the same way as Economy, the only difference is that the seat next to you stays empty.

The seats themselves are comfortable enough and actually feel slightly better padded than on many other European airlines.

A nice touch: each seat features two USB power outlets, though unfortunately, they weren’t working on my flight.

Food & Drinks

As this was a short morning flight, only soft drinks, coffee, and tea were available. A small cold snack was served along with a mini dessert,  simple, fresh, and quite tasty considering the short 45-minute flight time.

Service

The crew was excellent,  friendly, attentive, and genuinely professional. They checked in several times to see if Business Class passengers needed anything else.

One thing that stood out: the crew politely but firmly made sure that Economy passengers didn’t switch to empty seats, keeping the cabin well organized.

Families traveling with children also received a small kids’ kit, which was a thoughtful touch.

Bottom Line

Helvetic’s Business Class offers solid service and a comfortable short-haul experience, but don’t expect major extras. Aside from a free seat next to you and complimentary food, the benefits are similar to most European Business Class products.

Still, the crew made this short hop from Luxembourg to Zurich feel special, and that’s something worth mentioning.

Overall Impression

👍 Pros: Great crew, smooth boarding, comfortable seat layout.
👎 Cons: No lounge access, no fast track, USB ports didn’t work.

A short but pleasant Business Class experience on one of Europe’s most modern regional jets.
