1. What is so special about American Airlines Flagship Suite Cabin?
American Airlines is transforming its international travel experience, starting with the new Boeing 787-9P Dreamliners. These aircraft are built with a premium-heavy configuration, designed for comfort, privacy, and next-generation technology.
A Premium-Heavy Layout
Each 787-9P carries just 244 passengers, fewer than previous 787-9s. The layout focuses on premium seating:
- 51 Flagship Suite Business Class seats, each with sliding doors, Bluetooth audio, and wireless charging
- 8 Flagship Suite Preferred seats, offering even more space and privacy in select rows
- 32 Premium Economy seats in a 2-3-2 layout with upgraded entertainment, power outlets, and charging ports
Viasat high-speed Wi-Fi providing fast and stable internet throughout the flight. This configuration marks a major step forward in American’s premium offering, combining privacy, technology, and style across all long-haul cabins.

2. American Airlines Flagship Suite Routes with Flight Numbers
The first American Airlines 787-9P entered service in spring 2025, debuting on transatlantic routes from Chicago (ORD) and Philadelphia (PHL).

Note: As of now, only eight Boeing 787-9P aircraft are in active service. While the routes listed below are scheduled to feature the new Flagship Suites cabin, aircraft assignments can vary, and there’s no absolute guarantee your flight will be operated by a 787-9P. This will improve as more aircraft enter service in the coming months. Flight schedules and equipment are always subject to change, the list below reflects the current planned operations.
