Airlines allowing Friends or Families to pool miles
Over the last years, more and more frequent flyer programs started to allow family members and even friends to pool their miles.
We will show you which airlines offer that possibility and which rules have to be fulfilled.
Airlines that allow families or friends to pool miles:
Aegean
- Family or Friend pool account
Silver and Gold elite members only, up to five members.
Aeromexico
- Family pool account.
Limited to spouses and children. The last names on the accounts must match, or you can write to soporte@clubpremier.com to qualify your legal guardianship in other cases.
Air Canada
- Family pool account.
Up to five family members, all members of the Family Sharing account, will be able to take advantage of the preferred award pricing granted to the status holder.
Air India
- Family pool account.
Only if the head of the family pooling account is an Indian resident, members who are not Indian nationals or Indian residents can still join a family pool. Maximum of nine members, children must be at least 2 years old.
Air France / KLM (Flying Blue)
- Family pool account.
Flying Blue Family, up to eight Flying Blue members (max. two adults and six children)
ANA
- Family pool account.
Only for members who reside outside of Japan.
Up to eight members, including the head member.
There’s a registration fee of 1,000 miles to add members to the Family Account.
Asiana Airlines
- Family pool account
Up to eight family members.
British Airways
- Friend or Family pool account.
Up to seven people who live at the same address, and up to five additional people who don’t live within your household.
Executive Club Household Account
Etihad
- Family pool account,
Up to nine family members.
Emirates
- Family pool account,
Up to eight family members.
EgyptAir
- Family pool account.
Up to five family members.
You must email a copy of each potential member’s passport to customeraff@egyptair.com and specify their relationship to you.
Japan Airlines
- Family pool account.
Only for members who reside outside of Japan, up to nine family members.
There is a 1,000-mile fee for each member added to the Family Club, as well as a 1,000-mile renewal fee every five years.
JetBlue
- Friend or Family pool account.
Up to seven friends or family members.
Korean Air
- Family pool account.
Up to five family members.
Lufthansa Miles & More
- Friend or Family pool account.
Up to two adults and five children for members in select countries.
These countries currently are: Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.
Miles-and-More Mileage Pooling
Norwegian
- Friend or Family pool account.
Up to seven members.
Qantas
- Family pool account.
Actually, Qantas doesn’t allow you to pool your points, per se, but they allow you to transfer points to eligible family members for no fee.
Qatar Airways
- Family pool account.
Up to nine family members.
Singapore Airlines
- Family pool account.
Only parents and guardians can link up to 5 children accounts (2 years and older) to theirs.
Turkish Airlines
- Family pool account.
Only if the head member has the airline’s Classic Plus elite status or higher.
Miles&Smiles Family Membership
Virgin Atlantic
- Family pool account.
Only members with Gold elite status can create a household account and link a maximum of nine Flying Club memberships with the same household address as the Gold member.
Virgin Australia
- Family pool account.
Up to six family members living at the same address.
