Review: Hilton Paris Opera

We booked the Hilton Paris Opera in Summer 2018 with our points. From a Standard room we received an upgrade to a Superior room due to our Gold Status and complimentary continental breakfast. Prices at our specific date were all very high in Paris, the Hilton Paris Opera was close to 500€, so we used 70000 Hilton points which represents a pretty good redemption.

Location

The hotel is located in the Europe district and lots of bars, restaurants and shops are within walking distance from the hotel. A subway station is located right next to the Hotel and it only takes you 13 minutes by subway from Gare de l’Est to reach the hotel.

Rooms

The rooms have recently been renovated, have a very elegant interior and are very clean in general. However the rooms are rather small for a high-end Hilton, with literally no space available to unpack your suitcase. The bed was only a queen size one but very comfortable. The room features a walk-in shower, personal safe, an open small closet as well as a tiny working desk. The TV however was from a bigger size.

The bathroom on the other hand was spacious and you even have enough space there to store some stuff.

Another drawback was that they clearly did not put too much effort in details as it can be seen in the pictures below. At the ceiling attached lamp you could see the electrical cables and the system locking our bathroom window was rather unpleasant.

The view from our room was nice as you can see.

Food & Drinks

Lets first talk about their bar. The bar is located in their “Grand Salon”, a 19th century ballroom and is simply outstanding. Enough tables are provided and you can literally feel the luxury in here. They also have an amazing list of cocktails as well as cakes and small snacks are available during the afternoon. We probably had the best cocktail of our life here, you should truly visit the bar when you are around.

In terms of breakfast, it was served in a rather small room and I doubt there is enough space if the Hotel is really packed. Furthermore the selection was not what you expect from a high-end Hilton. It also took them forever to fill up the dishes once they were empty and the warm selections were nearly all already cold. No cooking station is available.

Other Services

Unfortunately no fitness room is available but they have a small business center as well as the usual services provided by these kind of hotels.

Staff

Staff at the reception was very friendly and we were warmly greeted. The most outstanding service we encountered was at the bar, the cocktails were amazing and the bartender even mixed non standard cocktails for us without hesitation. Amazing job here.

However considering breakfast, staff was everything but not attentive. It took forever to get some coffee (by the way the coffee tasted very bad) after asking twice. Empty plates have not been removed in time despite the fact that enough staff was available.

Conclusion

It is a nice hotel, no questions here, but considering the very small rooms, average breakfast but really high price of the hotel, we recommend you look for an alternative when staying in Paris and should visit this Hotel only to have a cocktail at their amazing bar.

If you enjoy our blog and would like to support us, you can buy us a coffee 😉
