Overview of Le Club AccorHotels: status levels, earning and redemtion of points

On this guide we will provide you with an overview of the Le Club AccorHotels loyalty scheme. We will discuss the different status levels, earning and redemption options.

Accor Hotels

Accor has a wide portfolio of participating hotel chains, from basic hostel style hotels up to top-notch luxury hotels. Included in their portfolio are the following brands:

  • Sofitel
  • Novotel
  • Pullman
  • Swissotel
  • Grand Mercure
  • Mercure
  • the Sebel
  • Adagio
  • Ibis
  • Mama Shelter
  • Ibis Styles
  • Adagio Access
  • Thalassa Sea & Spa
  • McGallery
  • Rixos
  • Raffles
  • Fairmont

You definitely have the best choice of hotels in Europe and Asia, while in North America Accor is not so well represented.

Benefits of the different Status levels

Le Club AccorHotels is offering 4 different Status levels: Classic, Silver Gold and Platinum. With every status, so already when registering to the program, you will already receive a 10% discount on every booking.

With the Silver status, you will get a complimentary drink for you and your guest on each stay, access to a priority welcome lane if available as well as late check-out.

The Gold status will give you some additional benefits. The possibility to choose between early check in and late checkout upon arrival, a welcome gift and an upgrade to the next room category subject to availability.

With the Diamond status you will receive early check in and late checkout, premium wi-fi and access to the executive lounges (be advised that in Asia, some higher end hotels have executive lounges while in Europe only a handful of hotels have such a lounge.)

How to reach their status levels

One membership year is the same as one calendar year at Le Club AccorHotels. To reach a specific status you have to reach the following during one calendar year:

  • Classic, immediately upon registering
  • Silver, 10 nights or 800€ on eligible expenses
  • Gold, 30 nights or 2800€ on eligible expenses
  • Diamond, 60 nights or 5600€ in eligible expenses

How to get Accor Gold Status for 90€ with the IBIS Busienss card

As you can see, it is rather hard to reach the mid or top end statuses at Le Club AccorHotels. However you can get the Gold status for only 90€ with the ibis BusinessCard which we already covered here.

Earning Points

We will here focus on the Rewards points you will earn as the number of status points you need to earn for the different statuses are already described above.

For each 10 Euro spent you will receive the following number of reward points depending on you status level:

Le Club AccorHotels

Redeeming Points

Redeeming you points at Le Club AccorHotels is pretty straightforward. Each reward point has a value of exactly 2 cents, and from 2000 rewards points (40€) on, you can use these points in future bookings to reduce the amount in cash you need to pay.

You also have the possibility to transfer your reward points to some airline programs. This rarely makes any sense unless there is a special promotion active where you will receive some extra miles. You have to keep in mind that if you want to convert your reward points to avios, transfer your avios to Iberia initially as the ratio with Iberia is 1 reward point : 1 avios while with BA, you will only receive one avios for each 2 reward points.

Conclusion

As you can see it is rather hard to reach a higher status at Le Club AccorHotels. The only complimentary advantages which are not subject to availability are the free drink and the welcome gift. Therefore their loyalty scheme is definitely not as good as some others out there. However the possibility to receive the Gold status via the Ibis Business card represents some good value if you have planned a couple of stays at the participating brands.
