Flight Review: KLM business class B777 Amsterdam to Vancouver
KLM business class Amsterdam to Vancouver B777-300
Boarding
Boarding was smooth and efficient. Another very nice thing was that it only took us 5 minutes to clear security and immigration in Amsterdam.
Flight
The flight was operated by a refurbished Boeing 777-300. Wi-Fi was accessible on the flight, but we did not use it as only paid options were available.
Seats
The seat layout on this plane follows a 2-2-2 configuration, which is far from ideal, especially for solo travelers. Window seats, in particular, lack direct aisle access, which can be inconvenient.
The seats themselves on this flight were brand new and exceptionally comfortable. Both the backrest and leg support were independently adjustable, offering a high level of comfort.
When fully reclined into the sleeping position, the seat measures 206 cm in length, making it sufficiently long and comfortable even for taller passengers. However, the bed feels quite narrow. To compensate, you can lower one of the armrests to slightly increase the width.
A notable drawback is the limited storage options available in KLM business class, which can be frustrating. Additionally, seat privacy is subpar; while there is a fixed divider for added privacy, a movable divider would be a better option for passengers traveling together.
Lastly, the footrest area can feel quite cramped, depending on the specific seat you’re assigned.
The provided pillow was fluffy, and it was no problem to sleep on it.
Nice large IFE touchscreens with a good resolution and plenty of available movies.
Amenities
The amenity kit came in a stylish brown bag, but it contained only the basics such as an eye mask, socks, earplugs, a comb, toothbrush and toothpaste.
Food & Drinks
Food was good, as was the drinks’ selection. You can have a look at the menu of the KLM business class in the pictures below.
Service
Service was prompt, professional and friendly as it should be.
Pre-departure drinks were served quickly, and it didn’t take too long to get the food as well.
Since 1952 on KLM, miniature houses are given as present to passengers on board of every KLM Intercontinental flights in the business class, which is really cool.
You can read more on these houses on a dedicated homepage here
Conclusion
We can recommend KLM business class on their refurbished planes. Seats are comfortable, food is good and service attentive, overall a solid business class product but there are betters ones on the market.
